8. Sultan (2016)

  • Director: Director: Ali Abbas Zafar
  • Cast: Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma
  • Box-Office Collection: Rs 300.16 crore

In the movie Sultan, Salman Khan plays the role of a 40-year-old former wrestler who has seen the ups and downs of life. Going into the flashback, we are introduced to the younger self of the Sultan at a time when no one could beat him. However, today the Sultan is only a shadow of his former self. Life has been knocking him down for years. Even though Sultan knows he is down, he also knows that he is not out. Her desire to win over Arfa’s (Anushka Sharma) heart is also a big motivating factor for her comeback.

Like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman’s character in the film is no bigger than his life. The man you see in the ring is down-to-earth, humble and different from your typical Bollywood superstar. So he is afraid of his opponents and does not even act invincible. However, much to the delight of Salman Khan fans, the film ticks all the boxes for a masala entertainer. However, don’t go looking for a twist ending. We all know what to expect from a film like this, but it’s still a lot of fun to see the underdog win.

6. Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)

  • Director: Kabir Khan
  • Cast: Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif
  • Box-Office Collections: Rs. 320.34 crore

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is different from every Salman Khan film. As in this, he plays a weak, naive and innocent Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi aka Bajrangi and not the masculine, larger-than-life ‘hero’ that we all look up to. Pawan always believes in doing good to others no matter what happens. So, when he finds a lost girl and learns that she is from Pakistan, he makes it his mission to bring her back to his family. The heartwarming story is filled with many light-hearted moments and is especially fun when Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays a reporter for a local news channel, joins the film.

  • Director: Rajkumar Hirani
  • Cast: Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani
  • Box-Office collection: Rs. 340.80 crore

Another Rajkumar Hirani film and another blockbuster. There is something in his storytelling manner that touches a soft spot in the hearts of the audience as well as entertains them. In PK, we saw Aamir Khan playing the role of an alien who comes to Earth but loses the equipment he needs to go back. Stranded alone on a new planet, PK (Aamir Khan) begins to understand the workings of our society which is flawed in many ways. The film makes us realize that many customs and customs that we consider to be ‘normal’ have no logic or logic behind them and that we are following them just because we have been told by our elders whatever the same process. have passed through. Anushka Sharma plays Jaggu in the film, PK’s only friend and a journalist who helps him explain his observations to the world.

Another trend that seems to have taken over Bollywood is biopics. Over the years, we have seen biopics on sports personalities, politicians, and freedom fighters being made. But, an actor’s biopic was something new for the audience, especially one that is full of ups and downs. Sanju, in which Ranbir Kapoor played the role of Sanjay Dutt, never denied that the actor was flawed. Also, he portrayed her as a drug addict, a feminist and a man who failed to realize the importance of family.

However, in the end, life comes full circle as he realizes his mistakes and tries to find redemption. The two major factors behind the success of the film were Rajkumar Hirani’s storytelling style and Ranbir Kapoor’s impeccable performance. Along with perfecting his look, the actor managed to perfect his body language, tone of voice and overall mannerisms, which made the audience believe that they were watching Sanjay Dutt on the big screen.

2. Dangal (2016)

  • Director: Nitesh Tiwari
  • Cast: Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra
  • Box-Office Collection: Rs. 387 crore

While Aamir Khan was the biggest star of the film, he decided to take a step back and let his on-screen daughters take the limelight in it. Dangal was based on Mahavir Singh Phogat, played by Aamir Khan, and his journey to transform his two daughters into world-class wrestlers. The film initially tells how Mahavir Singh had to give up his dream of getting India a gold medal because of his family responsibilities. Later he felt that he would fulfil his dream by making himself worthy through his son. But, after his wife had a fourth daughter, his dream would never turn into reality.

Later, he learns that gold is gold, whether a girl or a boy wins it and from that moment on he gives everything to make his daughters good enough to compete with the best of the world. We all are aware that Aamir is a dedicated actor but he has set a new benchmark with this film. While the actor could have easily worn a bodysuit to play the role in which he is seen as an overweight old man, the actor himself chose to gain weight so that his body language and gestures seemed authentic to the audience. Talking about authenticity, the lead cast of the film also underwent professional training before going on the floors of the film to move and fight like a professional wrestler. Well, his efforts certainly didn’t go in vain as Dangal turned out to be a huge success.
