But the pitcher was high and had a narrow neck, and no matter how he tried, the Crow could not reach the water. The poor thing felt as if he must die of thirst. Suddenly, he saw a water jug below the tree, he picked up some pebbles and kept dropping them into the jug. Due to the pebbles, the level of water rose. The crow drank the water and went on happily teaching the lesson to every other bird there.
